2022 AAUS Diving For Science Symposium
The 2022 AAUS Diving for Science Symposium hosted by Texas A&M Galveston and Moody Gardens was a success! Thank you to all of you who attended, either in-person or virtually. It was fantastic to come together again after a 2-year hiatus and catch up on all that has been happening in your programs as well as in the Academy.
Early in the week, attendees learned about Serious Accident Investigation, surface supplied diving and safe vessel operations, obtained technician certificates in equipment repair and cylinder inspection, became DAN Instructors and so much more! We want to thank all our dedicated instructors for putting together a fantastic workshop schedule and providing vital training for AAUS DSO and science divers.
Workshops were followed by a full class of DSO Orientation attendees, an information packed AAUS Business and DSO meeting and a full day of very interesting science presentations culminating with a presentation by the 2021 AAUS Scientific Diving Lifetime Achievement awardee, Mark Carr. Recordings from these events will be available to all in-person and virtual attendees in the coming week or two. Watch your inbox for more information.
We wrapped up the week with a lovely dinner cruise on the paddlewheeler, our 2022 annual awards presentation and a keynote address by Astronaut Jessica Meir. Unfortunately, were not able to capture the Awards dinner virtually or on recording.
