2021 Ruth D. Turner Scholarships in Marine Biology
Announcing scholarship opportunities for PhD students conducting research in marine biology and ecology and enrolled in New England* Colleges and Universities. Dr. Ruth D. Turner was a world-renowned marine biologist with a love of natural history and expertise on marine molluscs and deep-sea biology. Reflecting her interests, the proposed research must involve marine invertebrates with priority given to applications involving molluscs. To apply, submit a 3-page proposal and 2 letters of recommendation to Jon_Witman@brown.edu by May 15, 2021 with "Turner application" in the subject line. One letter must be from the student's advisor. The proposal must contain 1) an Introduction with background information on the questions or hypotheses targeted by the research 2) Methods 3) Budget and Justification and 4) Literature Cited. After review, six awards of $6,500 each will be made by June 15, 2021. * Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut.
